Do you want to arm your child with tools to help guarantee success for this upcoming year?
Do you have a summer’s worth of enriching activities ( instead of electronics) to help your little student prepare for their next big step?
I get it, I am a mom too! When my children (both boys) were entering kindergarten, I wanted to be sure they were set up for success. My research found that the key to kindergarten readiness is talking/listening skills, vocabulary, social/play interaction with peers, and phonological awareness (alphabet knowledge, rhyming and initial sound awareness for K). Phonological awareness is THE foundation for reading, writing and spelling. It’s also an important predictor of whether or not a child may struggle with reading.
Let us help put your mind at ease. Our 6 session kindergarten readiness program is aimed to boost foundational skills for learning in children 4-7. Emphasizing language and literacy, our program is run by two licensed speech language pathologists. As speech pathologists, we have ways of making kids learn without even knowing it! Our literacy-rich, interactive activities will help your child rock their first year in school.
In this program:
Your child will be introduced to all the phonological awareness skills that your child will be expected to know in kindergarten. Your child will be tested for these skills when they enter kindergarten in the Fall using the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS). PALS is a comprehensive assessment of young children’s knowledge of literacy fundamentals that are predictive of future reading success. More information on PALS can be found here.
Kindergarten readiness isn’t based on age; it’s a set of skills
Kindergarten is undeniably more academically focused now than it was for previous generations. Children enter kindergarten at vastly different learning levels. Children who enter are anywhere from 2 years ahead to 3 years behind. (The Children’s Reading Foundation) This program focuses on enhancing language, pre-reading, social and emotional skills that your child needs for kindergarten.
Who is this program for?
**A child who is eligible for general education kindergarten in the fall, whether they will be attending kindergarten or not.**
**Any rising 1st grader who struggled with their early reading skills and would benefit from this enrichment.**
**Any rising 1st grader child that you would like to reduce the summer slide of skills**
