Shannon is doing outstanding work with my son. He’s self-correcting his L’s 90% of the time – even at the end of words. I’m amazed at the progress she is making with him. He’s really trying to improve his speech
Our daughter doing so much better and I attribute so much of it to using the strategies. I didn’t realize how much we were just responding to her needs, but things have really taken off in the last month and she’s adding new words all the time and vocalizing so much more. Thank you for all of your help!!
MaryFrances began working with our 7-year old son after his Asperger’s diagnosis. After a week of phone tag (in which she never gave up!), our first phone conversation lasted almost an hour. I hung up, and immediately said to my husband, “This is the person we want for our child.” MaryFrances is knowledgeable, patient, thorough, flexible, and professional. She worked with our schedule, and listened to our concerns. She viewed us as equal partners in our son’s therapy process, and welcomed us to observe all sessions. My son had a lot of anxiety over starting speech therapy, but after the first session with MaryFrances, he couldn’t wait to go back! Her love for her job, and her genuine enjoyment of children is obvious from the way she interacts with her clients. She designed a treatment and homework plan for my son that remediated his speech issues in about a month’s time! I would encourage any parent with concerns about their child’s speech difficulties to work with MaryFances and TeachSpeech.”
When we first contacted TeachSpeech about our two-year-old son, he had said and then lost over a dozen words. He had very poor receptive language, understood only a few commands, and didn’t even respond to his own name. Needless to say we were very distressed and unsure of just how to help him.
The first thing I noticed about MaryFrances was her love for what she does and her genuine devotion to her students’ success. Regardless of whether our son was the first session of the day or the last, MaryFrances approached each meeting full of ideas and energy.
Her kindness and approachability put our son at ease very quickly. Within a few sessions, he looked forward to his meetings with “Miss Mary.” Upon seeing how much fun his brother was having, our other son even made the comment, “When do I get to go to speech therapy?”
After every session MaryFrances would give us tips and techniques to practice at home. This maximized the impact of every session and helped us become full participants in our child’s success.
The proof of MaryFrances’ talent is in the pudding. A little over a year later our son’s receptive language is excellent, his articulation is on target and he is speaking in six and seven word sentences.
We will soon be expecting our third child. If a language disorder or delay should ever become an issue again for our family we will face it with much less fear and anxiety. Now, thanks to MaryFrances, we know exactly where to turn.”
We’re fortunate to have had MaryFrances as speech teacher for our 3 year old boy. After just a few sessions, his disfluencies were significantly reduced. MaryFrances taught our son through play and he really looked forward to “playing with Mrs. Gonzalez”. The therapy sessions were as much for us as parents as they were for our son because MaryFrances taught us how to extend the techniques she was teaching in our learning sessions to play time at home. MaryFrances is a professional and truly does care about the children she teaches.”
We started working with TeachSpeech when we learned that our 18 month old twins were behind in their language development. MaryFrances is a wonderful speech language pathologist who is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is a very warm, caring individual who always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She always greets our children with hugs and an enthusiasm to help them have successful sessions. MaryFrances took the time to learn our twins’ different personalities and uses their individual strengths and weaknesses to customize their sessions. She provides a rich learning environment where our children are comfortable and encouraged to play and have fun while they learn. MaryFrances has been not only a wonderful therapist for our children, but also a wonderful resource for us as parents. While our twins are having fun learning, we as parents are also learning. MaryFrances shows us how to help our children in everyday life by nurturing and encouraging their speech development on a daily basis. We happily recommend TeachSpeech LLC to other families who are looking for a speech therapist that genuinely cares about their children and their language development.”
MaryFrances is an amazing speech therapist. We met her through Infant Toddler Connection and are so impressed. She arrived on time to our appointments, always bringing different games and learning tools. It was our 2 year old in therapy, but she was so flexible with our 5 year old being present. She involved him in the sessions and gave positive feedback to him about how he as the “big brother” could help his sister! Sometimes I wish we still needed therapy so we could learn from her: such a positive attitude and truly passionate about helping others.”
My son was born at 27 weeks and did not begin receiving speech therapy until he was two. Within less than a year of working with Mary on a weekly basis he is close to “graduating”. Mary has been a huge influence with not only our sons speech development but also our development as his parents. We are towards the end of our services and as glad as we are to see our little guys accomplishments we are all going to miss Mary tremendously!”
Words cannot express how wonderful MaryFrances is as a speech therapist. Her ability to “speak” to toddlers is amazing and in our case, continues to produce results. My daughter looks forward to her speech sessions each week and a major part of that is Mary’s fun-loving and engaging personality
